These things steam has no way to tell, it is entirely the mod makers design integrating with the game that determines these things.īasically tons of things could go wrong with a automatic detection system for out of date mods. Then you can get into cross mod compatibility problems.
However in the past I have experienced mod makers who have claimed that their mod does not need updating for the current version which would subsequently cause problems with said new update. I imagine a basic system of having mods state they are designed for a particular version would be possible. You will need to check the mods themselves. As such it has no way to detect incompatibility and remove mods based on version. But since mods are maintained by modders it cannot tell when a mod is compatible with the current version. Steam workshop will automatically update mods.
